Elevating From Flower: Where to Next?

If you’re a seasoned fogger, you may be finding that nothing gives you the silly, euphoric buzz that cannabis once offered. Years of smoking flower might have desensitized you to the effects of THC, and consuming now feels more like a habit than an experience. This is precisely why the interest in trying concentrates continues to grow and, with that, a laundry list of burning questions. Everyone wants to know what they are, how to use them and where to get them. Most importantly, everyone wants to know what in the world Shatter is!

We here at B+F are all about giving the people what they want, so let’s get to work and answer these VIQs (very important questions).

Shatter is something you have probably heard of, but might not know anything about. If that’s the case, you are not alone. I consumed cannabis for years before hearing that there were products other than flower and edibles. When my friends started talking about shatter, I definitely had all of the same questions that you have now.

“WTF is shatter?”

“Why does it look like that?”

“How are you gonna smoke this?”

First thing’s first: Shatter is a form of cannabis concentrate that can be consumed in a variety of ways. We’re talking dabbing, eating, vaping, or using to top up a bong toke. Typically, shatter is a translucent golden colour, like a stain-glass window reflecting the sunshine. As you likely guessed from the name, it is incredibly brittle, so don’t drop it! It might shatter… Get it?

Shatter is one of the purest concentrates on the market, reaching THC levels of up to 90%. It is increasingly popular with newbies and savants alike because of its intensely euphoric effects and medicinal benefits (for real though, sleep disorders, anxiety, and pain don’t stand a chance).

This is the most popular form of consuming shatter because of the immediacy of the effects. Dabbing involves vaporizing extracts on a hot (we’re talking 550-750 degrees Fahrenheit hot) “nail” made of titanium, quartz or ceramic, and inhaling through an “oil rig” which is a special pipe made specifically for dabbing. (p.s. A torch lighter is a must-have!)

Like other concentrates, shatter can be infused in edibles, which is a great option for those who do not enjoy smoking (and be warned, smoking shatter can be quite intense). We offer a variety of chocolate and vegan chocolate Shatter bars that taste amazing and make you feel even better. This is my personal favourite way of taking in cannabis concentrates, and you should definitely try it out if you’re looking to enhance your edible game.

Even though dabbing is super popular, vaping is always a healthier alternative to smoking. Unlike dabbing, vaporizing Shatter involves convective heating which heats the air around the concentrate to create vapour rather than burning the concentrate directly. In the long run, this method is better for your lungs, heart and throat. You won’t necessarily get the burning sensation that dabbing provides, but hey, a lot of people don’t want that anyway!

Shatter is just one of those things you have to try once if you’re looking for a new twist on the classic bong toke. If you feel like you’ve been in the cannabis game for too long and nothing really gives you that “high” anymore, then shatter is a great way to feel like it’s your first time again.
