Recipe: Cannabis Infused Coconut Oil With Shatter

2 Ingredients, 1 great time, no cheese cloth required (because who needs that drama?).

 

What you’ll need:

1 cup of coconut oil
1g of shatter concentrate

 

First thing’s first: Decarboxylate that shatter

The first thing you want to do when making edibles from scratch is release the carboxylic acid from your concentrate so that you can feel the full effects of the cannabinoids. Think of it like this: You wouldn’t get high off of flower by eating it on its own. This is why it is burned with a lighter or vaped using high heat.

In order for your edibles to give you the buzz that you are looking for, the same process needs to occur in your concentrate. This way, you don’t have to light your edible on fire to feel the effects (although, that would be interesting to watch).

 

To decarboxylate your 1g of shatter, place it in on a sheet of parchment paper in the middle of a glass dish. Bake at 220°F for 25-30 minutes.

When you remove the dish from the oven, the concentrate will be hot and bubbling. This is a good result and means that it worked!

 

Take the parchment paper with the decarboxylated shatter and place in the freezer for 15-20 mins (or until the bubbles have dissipated).

 

*Do not place the hot dish in the freezer because it will give a whole new meaning to shatter!

In the meantime, bring your 1 cup of coconut oil to a boil, and let simmer.

 

Remove the parchment from the freezer when ready and add the decarboxylated shatter to the hot coconut oil. Mix thoroughly and voila! A beautiful infused oil to use for cooking, baking, and feeling all the good vibes.
