Is CBD safe for pets?
Most researchers and veterinarians seem to agree that CBD is safe for pets. Mammals have the same endocannabinoid system as humans, and it’s that system that processes CBD in the body. So, in theory at least, CBD can have all of the same effects on our fur babies as it does on us including reducing pain, treating anxiety and improving overall wellness.
How much CBD should I give to my pets?
The generally accepted rule is that pets should be given 1-5mg of CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight. It’s always a good idea to check this with your vet first though.
What is the best CBD oil for dogs?
The most effective CBD for all animals (including dogs and humans) is full spectrum CBD oil. Products that contain this kind will have a tonne of nutrients that others don't.

In terms of what CBD oil products are best, this varies massively on the product ingredients and your dog’s unique needs. If you’re looking for a precise recommendation, your vet will be able to steer you and your pup in the right direction.

Can CBD oil help with dog aggression?
Maybe! Dogs can become aggressive for a bunch of different reasons. It could be that she’s feeling unhappy or insecure in her environment, not getting enough exercise and play, or has an underlying health problem that’s causing pain and stress. CBD won't be able to help in these cases.

But if your dog simply has a nervous personality and this is what’s causing aggression, then CBD definitely could help to calm her nerves and chill.

Can a pet overdose on CBD oil?

According to the National Cancer Institue, “because cannabinoid receptors, unlike opioid receptors, are not located in the brain stem areas controlling respiration, lethal overdoses from Cannabis and cannabinoids do not occur.”

While it is difficult to overdose from CBD, one of the biggest myths about CBD is that it’s simply not possible to overdose. Scientists haven’t proven that overdosing on CBD can have negative health effects yet, but they believe it could potentially cause lethargy, diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, or even changes in appetite. This is why measuring dosage is super important.

Still, you can’t blame people for wondering about CBD overdose. Fortunately, there are plenty of cases of people experiencing the benefits of CBD, and no known reports of fatal overdose from CBD or CBD oil.

Does CBD work the same for cats and dogs?
Pretty much. Because all mammals have an endocannabinoid system, the effects are fairly standard across species.
Will CBD help calm an anxious cat?
Yep—CBD can really help to reduce anxiety in cats, dogs, people and all other mammals.
Does CBD help with epilepsy in pets?
This is one of the many grey areas when it comes to what CBD can and can’t do. There’s research to suggest that it can help with certain kinds of epilepsy in humans and researchers think that it should have the same positive effects on animals with the same condition. However, they really haven’t proven this yet so it’s just a theory.

There shouldn’t be any harm in adding CBD to your epileptic pet’s diet and seeing if you notice changes in their symptoms. Just make sure to keep your vet in the loop!

Will CBD make my pet high?
No, but THC will. Some full-spectrum CBD products have trace amounts of THC in them (less than 0.3%), but thankfully, these amounts won't be enough to cause a high.
