Ontario’s 12-km White Sand Dunes Will Transport You To The Tropics This Summer
If jetting off on a beach vacation just isn’t in the cards for you, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the tropical vibes. You can visit a Caribbean-like paradise without even leaving the province this season. This dreamy spot has everything you need to enjoy the warm weather to the fullest, like stretching white sand beaches and clear blue waters. Ontario’s Sandbanks Provincial Park is the only place you’ll want to spend your sunny days.
Sandbanks Provincial Park has some amazing features like lush biking trails and serene camping areas.
Located about two-and-a-half hours from Toronto, this spot is a must-visit during the spring and summer months.
One of its most stunning attributes is the 12-kilometre stretch of white sand dunes that run along the shoreline.
These incredible sand mountains were formed by glaciers 12,000 years ago, and now you can spend your day climbing over golden slopes and lounging in the soft sand.
They are the world’s largest bay mouth barrier dune formation and provide endless views that will give you tropical vibes.
The park houses three beaches you can explore, Outlet Beach, Sandbanks Beach, and Dunes Beach.
For the best sand dune adventure, you can walk the Sandbanks Dunes Trail.
This 2.5-kilometre loop will take you through unique sand formations and pannes.
The day walk-in fee is only $2 per adult, and you can find vehicle permits as well if you are planning on driving in.
The surrounding Prince Edward County area is also worth exploring after a day on the beach.
You can find charming spots from wineries to lavender farms to delicious ice cream shops in this place. Put on your finest swimsuit, call up your friends, and get ready to explore sandy slopes at this stretching beach.
